Swimming with the Vans Agnews in Auxerre

Saturday 10 August 2013 and Sally, Peter, Grace, Harvey and Toby joined the good ship Listel in Auxerre. The children cooled down jumping off the boat into the river. We wondered why there were no other swimmers in the river but the next day discovered a large water park just around the corner - next time we'll ask!! After another lovely dinner we set sail on Sunday towards Vincelles. Sally and Peter booked a boat just a bit further up the canal which they pick up on monday. Most of the locks are manual and less than 2 km apart. Clara showed Grace the  "bow girl" jobs, Freddie showed Harvey the "stern boy" jobs, Rob showed Toby the midships jobs and Sally and Peter watched the helm and navigated. Then, great fun was had when the children were allowed to wind the locks open and closed themselves. Sunday night we are moored alongside a campsite, with small swimming pool, and half the crew are camping and half on the boat. Sam
