Digoin

Sitting beside the pont de canal at Digoin. The bridge marks the start of the Canal du Centre and carries the canal  over the Loire river.

This looked like a good restaurant but its closed until September!!

Our final lock into Digoin and onto the Pont de canal.

Our meal out in Digoin and Clara loved her banana split.

Big sister Daisy is having a birthday.

Happy Birthday Daisy. We hope you have had a relaxing day at the spa and feel nicely pampered. Cant wait to see you when we get home. With lots of love Dad, Sam, Clara and Freddie xxxx

Swimming and volley ball at Pierfitte sur Loire

It's still 30' with clear blue skies.

We stopped at Pierfitte sur Loire where there is a baignade on the lake beside the canal.
We played beach volleyball and the local children joined in.

Breakfast in Pierrefitte

This will be our last day moving on the canals so we walked into the village and had breakfast. Clara and Freddie are standing on the bridge by the canal and you can see the lake and swimming area behind them. The white building by the canal is the restaurant "La Peniche" where we had a very good meal last night.
The little tabac and epicery in the village square.

Our best meal in France so far. Pierfitte sur Loire.

At the restaurant 'La Peniche' right beside the canal we had our best meal in France this holiday.

A game of UNO at Champvert

An overnight stop that promised restaurants but they were both closed! We had dinner onboard Shangrei Bay a beautiful 18 month old 20m cruiser with Donald, Helen and Sri.

Onto the canal Lateral a la Loire

A very pretty lock keepers house and the start of a new canal. We're going up again.

Leaving the canal du Nivernais and onto the Loire River

Leaving the Canal du Nivernais.  We really enjoyed the Nivernais, it was shallow in places but our 60cm draft with the keel up made everything possible.
We are now on the Loire river. We pulled the cord on the gantry to open the lock then a blue bar to close and fill.
