Modules frites in Frontingnans Plage

Our last meal with Tim, Juliet and the Green girls in La Frontingnan Plage. We've had a wonderful three weeks and they make their way home tomorrow as we work our way towards Port La Robine on the midi. Bye bye friends, see you in sunny Suffolk!!

Broken boats on the canal du midi

Rather sadly a number of half sunk boats line the canal du midi as you enter from the Etang de Thau.

Breakfast at the Bassin Rond

Deck chair breakfast, lovely fresh croissants

Le Bassin Rond on the Canal du Midi

After crossing the Etang de Thau we are now in the Canal du Midi and these pictures show us approaching the only round lock which has three lock gates. It was a bit tricky tying up and made some great spectator sport watching everyone bouncing around. It suited our yacht shape better than the canal boats.

The Green's boat on the Etang de Thau

Sete is in the background. The lake is 16km across and 11km wide. It can be quite choppy and we missed the first set of red and green buoys but picked up the rest.

Etang de Thau

We crossed the Etang de Thau with the Greens.

Flamingoes and Le petit train at Maguelone

WeIf you zoom in you can see the flamingoes standing in one leg.
Here's Rob on the little train to the beach at Maguelone.

Maguelone. Just lovely.

On the canal Rhone a Sete. In some places the wall between the canal and the lake is badly broken. Rob is helping between Palavas les Flots and Maguelone.
The cathedral built on an island in the etange ( lake) between the canal and the beach. A free train takes people the 2.5km to the beach and back.
Below is the very clever swinging floating foot bridge to get to the island and causeway. It's powered by outboards and you toot your horn to ask them to open it v
